Dives sur Mer

In the immediate vicinity of Cabourg, you can visit Dives-sur-Mer, whose history is linked to that of William the Conqueror's great expedition. There's the church of Notre-Dame built over the 11th, 14th and 15th centuries, the  William the Conqueror Village; a craft village in the former 16th-century post house and the new marina district of Port Guillaume.

The William the Conqueror village:

The former 16th-century posting house has been transformed into a medieval craft village.                                                                                  The hotel was also a staging post office between Rouen and Caen. There still remain some easily discernible parts of the buildings from the era in the Louis XIV courtyard. This complex, with its external galleries to access the rooms, stables and outbuildings, was once called the Auberge de l'Epée Royale.
