Deauville, sea bathing and equestrianism

Deauville and horses are like Deauville and the sea, that is to say, inseparable. It's not not an accident that the town was built between the beach and the racecourse...

The Duke of Morny, Napoleon III's half-brother, founded Deauville in 1861 and the racecourse at Deauville-La Touques was inaugurated in 1864, even before the church was built!
